Ryan Torre is a Digital Media Specialist, with strengths in Flash ActionScript programming, graphic design, Web design and video produciton.
Ryan finished his Masters degree in Telecommunications (Digital Media Art and Technoogy) at Michigan State University in December of 2005.
Ryan also received his Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications at Michigan State University. For his B.A., he studied Information Technology, and programming (C++ and JavaScript).

Merit is "an integrated marketing firm serving customers with on-target business-building tools." Ryan has freelanced with Merit since March of 2009. Ryan moved to Grand Rapids in June, but still works freelance on projects remotely. Merit has its headquarters in Troy, MI.

From March 2007 to December of 2008, Ryan worked as a Digital Designer / Art Director for Campbell-Ewald. His work primarily consisted of producing banner ads for Chevy, ranging from very basic to highly interactive. Ryan played an active role in the creative process, including concepting, building comps in Adobe InDesign and prototypes for rich media projects, and helping bring those ideas to life after being approved by the client.
Previous Work at the Pileus Project (MSU Department of Geography)
Ryan worked for the Pileus Project (run by the Michigan State University Dept. of Geography) while working on his Masters degree, and continues to work on the project on a freelance basis. As a Flash programmer and Web designer for the project, his responsibilities include interface design and programming for their Flash based tools, including the Historical Weather Tool.
Ryan also worked as the animator, editor and programmer of the flash-based interpretation guides for the Future Climate Scenarios Tool.
Interests
Ryan's interests include the use of multimedia for training or education, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), and professional video production. He has programmed interfaces using ActionScript, and JavaScript. Ryan also continues to study Adobe AIR, the technology created by Adobe to allow Flash and web content to be converted into desktop-based applications.
